Partner needed to deliver climate change event in Slovakia, says the British Embassy

Slovakia is asking for a minimum of 15 commitments to carbon neutrality from cities, towns and regions. To do this they are holding a bidding process with an incentive package that includes videos where the mayor of their town commits to going green in front of children who will be excited about making Slovakia greener too,

The climate talks will bring together heads of state, climate experts and campaigners to agree coordinated action to tackle climate change. As COP26 Presidency, the UK is committed to working with all countries and joining forces with civil society, companies and people on the frontline of climate change to inspire action ahead of COP26.

The unbacked Race to Zero campaign would be supported by these commitments, with this event being held with the intention of inspiring action on behalf of our climate crisis; the campaign would educate and advertise on how to create and implement a strategy to becoming carbon neutral, as well as finding sustainable financing options and follow up opportunities after the event.

This event is planned to take place in October of 2021, with these follow up activities going on until March 14th of the following year.

The British Government announced that they are inviting bids of up to €20,000, with bids being assessed by the 9thAugust 2021. The outcome of this assessment should be acknowledged and communicated to all bidders by 13thAugust 2021, and you can view the criteria online here.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office states: “Climate change is the greatest risk facing us all. In November 2021, the UK, together with our partners Italy, will host the COP26 international climate conference. Leaders from around the world will converge on Glasgow to deliver on the Paris Agreement and seek to secure global net zero by 2050.

“But climate change affects us all and we must all take steps to tackle it. That is why the British Embassy in Bratislava has brought the UN’s Race to Zero campaign to Slovakia.”
